Theories, research, and methods focused on enabling students to become self-regulated readers who effectively use multiple strategies in their reading will be explored. Strategic processes in comprehension, word identification, critical thinking, and analysis will be examined as the role of the teacher as a model and mediator of such processes in a variety of reading contexts.
