Course Description: A systems approach is used to study the microscopic anatomy of mammalian tissues and organs. Related physiological processes are integrated with the anatomical studies. Hands on instruction in preparing sectioned materials.

Course Objectives: The course goal is to introduce students to the variety of cell types that make up tissues and organs. At the conclusion of BIOL433 students will be able to:

1. understand the types of cells in different organ systems
2. sight identify cells and tissues from images
3. identify healthy tissue
4. prepare slides, by fixing, embedding and sectioning tissue samples
5. take high quality digital picture of cells and tissues
